Explore Faith and Belonging: Join the Beloved Community Conference at Bristol Cathedral
Following last year’s success of the inaugural “Beloved Community” conference, Bristol Cathedral is delighted to announce the return of “The Beloved Community: A Place at the Table for Everyone” on 5 October 2024. This year’s one-day event promises an inspiring exploration of Christian faith, identity and belonging.
Scheduled for Saturday 5 October from 9.30am – 4.15pm, this transformative gathering will feature a remarkable line-up of new speakers, bold topics, and interactive workshops. Participants will explore themes such as ritual, ownership, and moving beyond inclusion, exploring what it means to be part of the beloved community.
“The Beloved Community is a very special day in the year, when people who sometimes feel on the outside or the edge of church are placed right at its heart, and we all share in a great experience of learning, worship, and community. It is an enacted vision of the Kingdom of God!”
– The Very Rev’d, Dr Mandy Ford, Dean of Bristol.
Participants will engage in dynamic sessions, share a meal prepared by the Square Food Foundation, celebrate the Eucharist, and participate in discussions aimed at fostering a deeper understanding of God’s love for all regardless of gender, sexuality, disability, or race.
There will be a Wellbeing Zone where attendees can still listen to and engage with the talks, while keeping their hands busy, enjoying extra room, and expressing creativity. A quiet chapel and the peaceful garden will also be available for those who wish to take a break from the conference.
The conference will feature popular speakers including:
- Dr Selina Stone – Theologian | Educator | Writer | Podcaster
- Bishop Mike Royal – Pentecostal Bishop | General Secretary at Churches Together in England
- Jo Dolby – Lecturer | Hub and Church Leader at Oasis
- Rev Molly Boot – Theologian | Assistant Curate of the Leadon Vale Benefice
- Nic Jovčić-Sas – Public Speaker | LGBTQ+ Activist
