Visitor Experience Assistants

Bristol Cathedral is looking to recruit a team of Visitor Experience Assistants. Post holders will play a key role within the Cathedral’s Visitor Experience Department and will be responsible for:

  • Providing a warm welcome to visitors and encourage them to make a donation
  • Confidently encouraging visitors to donate and complete a Gift Aid form
  • Maintaining high standards of presentation front of house
  • Selling tickets for guided tours and shop items
  • Facilitating events in both the Cathedral and The Lord Mayor’s Chapel
  • Being the first point of contact for visitors and front of house volunteers

The successful candidate will have exceptional people skills, a can-do approach and the ability to think creatively when problem solving. We are looking for interpersonal skills above all else and the interview stage of the recruitment process is more important than the application form.

Hours: Part-time

We have a couple of roles available, both part-time for 3 or 4 days a week with a mixture of weekend and weekday working. Postholders will be expected to commit to a regular fortnightly shift pattern, with some opportunities for overtime.

Working Arrangements

The post will primarily be based within Bristol Cathedral but will include some time in The Lord Mayor’s Chapel.

Paid overtime may be available in addition to contracted hours, as agreed between the line manager and the postholder.Please note that this is a three year fixed term contract.

Postholders are provided with a uniform for this role, compromising of a shirt, fleece and coat. Postholders provide their own smart, black bottom half with smart, dark, comfortable shoes.  

Pension

Membership of the Church Workers Pension Scheme, with a 7% employers contribution and 5% employee contribution.  The Scheme includes a death in service cover of twice the annual salary.

 

 

 

Annual Leave

25 days plus bank holidays per year, pro rata for part-time employees. You may be required to work some bank holidays, in which case you will be given this time back in lieu. Annual leave increases by one day per year from year six to year ten of employment.

 

 

Uniform

Postholders are provided with a uniform for this role, compromising of a shirt, fleece and coat. Postholders provide their own smart, black bottom half with smart, dark, comfortable shoes.
