The Advent Procession

“O come, O come, Emmanuel”

Join us for this moving Advent hymn as the Cathedral gradually fills with light. Beginning in darkness, everyone lights a candle, sharing the flame with those around them, while the Choir processes through the building. Experience a beautiful, atmospheric service of music, prayer, and reflection, and share in the quiet hope and anticipation of the start of the Church year.

The procession is full of meaning. Moving from darkness to light reflects the Advent theme of waiting and preparation, and as candles are shared, it becomes a moment of hope and community. Join in this tradition and take time to reflect and prepare for Christmas.

This candlelit service is open to everyone and lasts around 90 minutes. You are very welcome to take part and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Our friendly Welcome Team are on hand to help.
