Bristol Cathedral is seeking an outstanding musician, educator and leader to become our next Director of Music (Master of the Choristers).

This is a rare opportunity to shape the future of music at one of England’s most distinctive cathedrals, building on a flourishing choral tradition, strong chorister recruitment, an exceptional partnership with Bristol Cathedral Choir School and a recently restored organ of national significance.

Working closely with the Canon for Worship and Mission, the successful candidate will lead the Cathedral’s choir and music department, inspire musical excellence and develop an ambitious vision for music that supports worship, mission and public engagement. As a member of the Senior Executive Team, they will play a key role in the strategic leadership of the Cathedral and in strengthening music’s contribution to the life of the city and Diocese.

We are looking for someone who can combine a commitment to the Anglican choral tradition with the imagination and energy to broaden participation, build partnerships and ensure that the Cathedral’s musical life reflects the diversity, creativity and cultures of contemporary Bristol.

The successful candidate will inherit strong foundations and the opportunity to shape the next chapter of music at Bristol Cathedral, nurturing the next generation of musicians while helping more people encounter the Cathedral through music, worship and community.
