The Friends of Bristol Cathedral is a registered charity (Charity Number 274399) which works together with the Cathedral Chapter to fund projects which beautify the Cathedral, care for its fabric, and enrich its worship.
The Friends of Bristol Cathedral feel a particular responsibility to help with projects which enhance the Cathedral or its life, but which it would be difficult for the Chapter to fund from within its normal financial resources.
Recent contributions have included:
- Inscriptions on the nave altar, Maundy Stone and other monuments
- New sound system for the Cathedral
- Provision of the new nave choir stalls
- Refurbishment of the Elder Lady Chapel and Sacristy
- Copes for Chapter, robes for the choirs and Lay Canons
- New choir library
The affairs of the Friends are conducted through an elected council and an annual General Meeting is held each summer, prior to which a comprehensive annual report is sent to every member. Special events for Friends are arranged from time to time. For a copy of the 2014 Annual report and accounts click here.
