If you are looking for somewhere unusual to host a community or corporate event the Cathedral could be ideal. If you would like to find out more please contact the Executive Assistant. We can offer:
A space for concerts and recitals
Whether you are looking to host a large concert with full orchestra or an intimate piano recital, the Cathedral is an ideal venue for performing. We can configure the Cathedral in a number of ways, and provide raked, carpeted staging for choirs of up to 150 singers, and Green rooms for artists. All events are supported by our Verger team, who will be on-site to coordinate health and safety, security, stewarding and whatever else you require. The Cathedral has played host to a range of large events, including graduation ceremonies for the University of the West of England, and large concerts with visiting choirs including Bristol Bach Choir and Bristol Choral Society. We also have a regular programme of piano and organ recitals during the summer. Recent events have included a joint event with Bristol Central Library, at which Salley Vickers talked about her latest book, The Cleaner of Chartres.
A space for art, exhibitions and the performing arts
As well as concerts and recitals, the Cathedral also regularly hosts art exhibitions and dance performances. Recent examples include the Senior Schools Art Exhibition and an exhibition for Christian Aid. Please contact the Executive Assistant if you want to hold an arts events at the Cathedal.
A space for fine dining and entertaining
One of the hidden glories of the Cathedral is the 12th century Chapter House, with its carved stone walls and vaulted ceiling. This stunning space is an ideal venue for receptions and corporate entertaining. It can seat up to 80 people sitting down to a candlelit dinner, or 120 standing for a buffet. It is accessed off the Cloister, which contains fine examples of medieval glass, and in fine weather visitors can also explore and enjoy our award winning garden. There is a small kitchen next to the Chapter House that can be used by professional caterers, and our cafe can also be used for event catering.
A green space
Although the Cathedral owns College Green, the area outside the Cathedral and City Hall, it is administered by the City Council.
