We have volunteering roles available to people who want to exercise their creativity. Sewing, bell ringing and flower arranging are all vital in maintaining the beauty of the Cathedral.
- Cathedral Bell Ringers - The bell ringers ring for all major services and events. The eight bells were originally installed in the Temple Church, which was destroyed by fire in 1940. The bells were cast by Taylor’s of Loughborough in 1887; the largest (tenor) bell weights 21 cwt, and these bells are regarded as a particularly fine peal.
- Flower Arrangers - The flower arrangers bring beauty and life to the Cathedral with their creative arrangements. The Cathedral pays for the flowers and volunteers join a rota so that the flowers are changed every Friday, or on special occasions when required.
- Sewing Team - We rely on a strong team of people with sewing expertise who help us look after the choir robes and vestments for the clergy, servers and vergers. Knowledge of dressmaking and embroidery is helpful.
