Bristol Cathedral is thrilled to announce that rock legends, Jethro Tull will be performing a very special Christmas concert on December 11 2024. Prepare for an unforgettable evening featuring Jethro Tull’s signature Christmas-themed tracks, reimagined classical pieces and traditional music from the liturgy of the Church of England.

Ian Anderson, known throughout the world of rock music as the flute and voice behind the legendary Jethro Tull, is widely recognised as the man who introduced the flute to rock music. The self-professed non-believer nonetheless claims a huge affinity for the deeds and traditions of Christianity. In his support for both the religion and the actual places of worship, he performs most years in our great cathedrals and churches – and a few little ones too!

We are so grateful for the generosity of Jethro Tull, who are bringing their musical talents to us as a gift – to enable us to fundraise for the mission and ministry of Bristol Cathedral. I can’t wait to welcome the band and the audience to the Cathedral for this event!

.

The profits from the sales of tickets go to the upkeep of these sacred buildings and, perhaps, also in support of the musical liturgy of the church. I try to balance the festive time of year in song with a few of the elements of an old-fashioned carol service. All delivered with good humour and good cheer. Grace me and, hopefully, a few special guests with your presence for some of the best-known repertoire of Jethro Tull and a few snippets of seasonal traditional church and Classical music.”

– Ian Anderson from Jethro Tull

Joining Anderson on stage will be special guests and Bristol Cathedral’s own Director of Music, Mark Lee. Join Ian and his band for an evening that promises joy, nostalgia, and a celebration of community. Don’t miss this unique musical experience!

Tickets start from £25 and are available HERE
