“…many people think of the Cathedral only in terms of its building, its architecture, and its history. The Cathedral is so much more….”

We join with our Bishop and Diocese in seeking to live out our values of openness, generosity, creativity and bravery as we follow Jesus, serve others and transform communities.

We are an open and inclusive community that seeks to reach out to love and serve those around us.

Bristol Cathedral is open to everyone, and we hope that you will find a warm welcome here.

Explore this page to find out about our different services available and how to worship God through music and singing.

About our services

The Cathedral is a living place of Anglican liturgy and worship, with many of our services sung by our talented Cathedral Choirs.

The Opus Dei – the work of God – takes place every day in Bristol Cathedral, echoing the monastic pattern of prayer of the Augustinian canons who lived and worshipped on this very site before it became a Cathedral.

We maintain a rhythm of prayer that includes daily morning and evening prayer and the Eucharist. Within these services we offer praise to God, pray for the needs of the world and those around us, and respond to God by engaging with Scripture.

Throughout the course of the year we follow the story of God’s salvation for us by observing the cycle of seasons (e.g. Christmas and Easter) and holy days (e.g. saints’ days) that take us from the creation of the world, the proclamations of the Old Testament prophets, through the life of Jesus Christ, and on to the mission of the early Church and beyond.

All are welcome to attend our services.

About our services

Choir

Bristol Cathedral Choir lies at the heart of the worshipping life of the Cathedral, sustaining a pattern of worship that reaches back nearly nine hundred years. Our choristers have the joy and privilege of enabling people to worship God through music and singing.

Organ

Music is integral to life and worship at the Cathedral. At the very heart of this is our organ.

We are delighted to begin a ‘once in a generation’ restoration project to ensure our magnificent instrument can be enjoyed to its full potential, now and for future generations to come.
