Bristol Cathedral and Dr. Jane Carter and Dr. Sarah Whitehouse, University of the West of England, invite you to a special exhibition showcasing the outcomes of their impactful work addressing racism in Bristol and its effects on children’s lives, experiences, and identities.
Building on their published research for the European Union-funded Children’s Identity and Citizenship Education (CiCe) network, Dr. Carter and Dr. Whitehouse developed teaching resources focused on the value of tolerance, framed through the lens of the toppling of the Colston Statue.
This scheme of work was trialled in five Bristol schools, where teachers received tailored training to implement the materials effectively. Following classroom implementation, educators collaborated to evaluate and refine the resources. The outcomes of this work will be shared through public exhibitions of children’s responses, fostering ideas of anti-racism within a broader framework of tolerance.
Join us at Bristol Cathedral to celebrate this vital work and explore the children’s powerful contributions to anti-racist education.
The exhibition is located at the end of the South Aisle. There is no charge or booking required.
