Procession of Palms & Eucharist

- Bristol Cathedral - College Green, Bristol
Join us for Palm Sunday as we commemorate Our Lord’s entry into Jerusalem, marking the beginning of the Holy Week.
On Palm Sunday, Jesus arrived in Jerusalem to crowds and cheers. His triumphant entry into Jerusalem has been celebrated on the Sunday before Easter since the first centuries of Christianity. The crowds waved palm branches and covered his path with them. This service remembers Jesus’ experience with a procession around College Green, holding crosses and palm leaves led by a donkey.
The procession continues inside the cathedral with a dramatised reading of the Passion Gospel and celebration of the Eucharist.
John 12:12-13 (NIV):
“The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting,
‘Hosanna!’ ‘Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!’ ‘Blessed is the king of Israel!'”
