Discover Earth Like Never Before

15 October – 9 November

Gaia: Our Home Planet is an immersive exhibition that explores the beauty and fragility of Earth, highlighting the diversity of life and the impact of human activity on our climate. Centred around a stunning seven-metre replica of Earth, created using high-resolution NASA imagery, visitors can marvel at the planet’s landscapes while reflecting on the rapid changes caused by industrialisation and climate change.

The exhibition addresses the Christian perspective on caring for creation, emphasising the spiritual responsibility to protect our planet. Interactive elements invite visitors to make pledges towards sustainable living and learn how climate change affects communities, including Bristol.

Accompanied by a unique soundtrack, by Dan Jones, featuring recordings from astronauts and sounds of nature, Gaia creates a sense of awe and connection, inspiring visitors to appreciate Earth’s beauty and take action to protect it.

There is no charge or booking required to visit Gaia. Please check the website for updates before your visit.

Please note that there is no photography permitted during rehearsals, concerts or school visits.

Luke Jerram, artist, said: “After the success of Museum of the Moon at Bristol Cathedral in 2021, which attracted over 65,000 people, I’m delighted to bring my Gaia earth artwork to my home city. I can’t wait for visitors to the Cathedral to see the Earth as if from space; an incredibly beautiful and precious experience. The Cathedral is hosting a really exciting and inspirational programme of events that people can get involved with and I’ll also be announcing a new environmental artwork for the region in tandem with Gaia being installed.”

Gaia Family Trail

The exhibition includes a special family trail with a printed guide and interactive sections designed to engage children, encouraging them to explore and learn more about our planet in a creative way.
