Discover Earth Like Never Before

Step into a world of wonder as Gaia, a 7-metre Earth artwork by renowned Bristol-based artist Luke Jerram, takes centre stage in Bristol Cathedral. This stunning installation, featuring detailed NASA imagery, will be suspended within the Cathedral, offering a unique opportunity to see our planet from an extraordinary perspective. The artwork, scaled to 1.8 million times smaller than planet Earth, is illuminated from within, with each centimetre representing 18 kilometres of the Earth’s surface. Amplifying this awe-inspiring display is an immersive soundscape composed by BAFTA award-winning composer Dan Jones.

Luke Jerram, artist, said: “After the success of Museum of the Moon at Bristol Cathedral in 2021, which attracted over 65,000 people, I’m delighted to bring my Gaia earth artwork to my home city. I can’t wait for visitors to the Cathedral to see the Earth as if from space; an incredibly beautiful and precious experience. The Cathedral is hosting a really exciting and inspirational programme of events that people can get involved with and I’ll also be announcing a new environmental artwork for the region in tandem with Gaia being installed.”
