Experience conservation in action and explore the practical skills of heritage preservation in a family-friendly setting.

Stall open between 10:00am – 2:00pm
Stop by Cliveden Conservation’s stall to learn more about their expertise and what they have discovered throughout their time at Bristol Cathedral. Discover the intricacies of preserving and restoring historic sites and chat with the experts about their passion for conservation.

  • Tours of the Seafarers’ Chapel
    15-minute slots on the hour and half past between 10:00am – 2:00pm
    Meet master stonemasons from Cliveden Conservation as they guide you through the Seafarers’ Chapel. Experience conservation in action with a behind-the-scenes tour of the ongoing work at Bristol Cathedral. Uncover the stories behind the chapel and witness the progress of ongoing restoration efforts up close. There will be no charge, but booking is advised for tours.
  • Have a Go at Stone Cutting
    First come, first served between 10:00am – 2:00pm
    Get hands-on with history! Everyone—from children to grandparents—can try their hand at stone cutting under the expert guidance of Cliveden Conservation’s skilled professionals. Learn the basics of this ancient craft and create your own piece of history while connecting with cathedral heritage.We recommend arriving early to have a go at stone cutting. 

Protective equipment will be provided but sturdy footwear is advised.

Crafty Cathedral: Stone Masonry
10:00am – 2:00pm
A special hands-on session where children and families can engage in mini stone carving activities. With all materials provided, this creative workshop lets you explore the basics of stone masonry in a fun and educational way, inspired by the conservation work happening around the cathedral.
