Meeting God as we are and as we are called to be.
This year, we are delighted to by joined by Rachel Mann for Compline. She will guide us through a thought-provoking exploration centered on the body of Jesus and the people who surround him.
Holy Week is the pivot point of the world: out of conspiracy, betrayal, denial, and death comes the redemption of all things. Our attention is centred on the body of one person – Jesus – and on a body of people who surround him, both friends and enemies. Drawing on art, literature and popular culture, Rachel Mann will explore how we – in our richly diverse, extraordinary human bodies – can locate our lives in fresh and exciting ways in the Body of the one who offers himself for the sake of shattered, troubled world.
Rachel Mann is a priest, award-winning poet, theologian and broadcaster. She has written fifteen books, including the T.S.Eliot-shortlisted ‘Eleanor Among the Saints’ (Carcanet: 2024). Her most recent book, ‘Do Not Be Afraid’, was the Archbishop of York’s Advent Book for 2024. She contributes regularly to ‘Thought For The Day’ on Radio 4’s Today, as well as other BBC radio programmes. She is Archdeacon of Salford & Bolton in the Diocese of Manchester.
Music is sung by the Lay Clerks and Choral Scholars, including Tallis’ Lamentations of Jeremiah on Wednesday 15 April.
