Featuring: Dublin Brass, Eimear Quinn, Jim Causley, Redland Green Choir, Arnos Vocale Chamber Choir
Experience an evening of music and reflection in the serene, candlelit beauty of Bristol Cathedral. Dublin Brass, the renowned Irish brass quintet, joins international singer-songwriter Eimear Quinn, folk musician Jim Causley, and local choirs Redland Green Choir and Arnos Vocale Chamber Choir for a unique collaboration celebrating the richness of traditional Irish music and folk song.
Set within the cathedral’s soaring architecture, the concert illuminates the harmonies of voice and brass, with additional accompaniment from harp, strings, and percussion. The programme includes evocative pieces such as My Lagan Love, The Voice, Mise Éire, and music from the Oscar-nominated film Room.
“We’re delighted to be performing together,” says Will Palmer, founder and artistic director of Dublin Brass. “Sit back, relax, and enjoy a candlelit evening of traditional Irish music, specially reimagined for voice and brass.”
Eimear Quinn, Eurovision Song Contest winner and internationally acclaimed performer, reflects: “It is a true pleasure to sing with Dublin Brass for Breath Upon The Flame. Performing these beautiful folk songs with classical brass in the glorious setting of Bristol Cathedral—I’m in my element!”
Jim Causley, award-winning folk singer and songwriter, brings a lifetime of musical heritage from Devon, including settings of poems by his relative Charles Causley and revived regional folk treasures.
Redland Green Choir, a vibrant community choir from north Bristol, has performed at Abbey Road Studios and the Royal Albert Hall, led by conductor Huw Morgan. Arnos Vocale Chamber Choir, under Anya Szreter, delights audiences year-round with its 15-strong ensemble, combining rich repertoire with refined choral artistry.
Breath Upon The Flame Bristol is one of only three concerts in the South West this spring, each featuring local choirs alongside this extraordinary ensemble.
