Lunchtime with JOW

  • Fri 12 June | 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
  • Bristol Cathedral  - College Green, Bristol

Acoustic instrumental duo JOW return by popular demand to Bristol Cathedral’s stunning 12th-century sonorous space: The Chapterhouse.

JOW is a deliciously uncategorisable acoustic instrumental duo, comprising James Gow on cello and Pete Judge on trumpet. Their music, as featured on BBC Radio 3 and 6Music, blends jazz and improvisation with elements of folk and classical chamber music. Formed in 2021, the duo has quickly established a reputation for unusual music-making alongside a growing series of unpredictable collaborations with people and spaces that have resonated with them. This will be the 3rd year and 4th collaboaration with Bristol Cathedral. In 2024 they performed under Luke Jerram’s Gaia and in 2025 in both The Chapterhouse and The Lord Mayors Chapel.

“stately trumpet lines of lament & renewal soar gently above earthy cello sounds and together weave an English landscape” (Music at the World Junction)

“somehow doing so much with so little” (Jazz Stroud)

“there is no ego to this, just musicians playing organic music. They musically lean into each other and then give the other space to find their way. The audience love them” (Bristol 24/7)

1pm Doors. Music 1.15pm-2pm. (All seating unreserved)
