Journey through the ‘feast of Lent’ at Bristol….
Lent and Easter at Bristol Cathedral
Join us for what George Herbert memorably called the 'feast of Lent' over the next six weeks.
During February and March we will be hosting of series of special services with choir, mediations, discusisons and cinema screeings ('Chariots of Fire').
For families and children don't miss the Palm Sunday procession round College Green with a donkey and our new children's service on Good Friday (10am). The Easter crafty Cathedral will take place on 4 April.
Meditations on the Stations of the cross take place midday every Friday lunchtime - reflecting on Christ's Passion.
The Gospel according to St Mark will be read aloud on Sat 17 March.
We then move into Holy Week and Easter itself. Hear the Lay Clerks and Choral Scholars singing the 'Lamentations of Jeremiah' on Wed 28 April at Choral Evensong. The Triduum starts at 1pm on Good Friday with a series of devotions culminating in the Easter Vigil service at 9pm on Easter Eve - followed by firewooks and something fizzy. The Bishop of Swindon will lead our celebrations on Easter Sunday.
Please note - due to unforeseen circumstances we have had to cancel the 'Something about Mary' series - this will be re-scheduled for the autumn. Apologies for any inconvience. Ticket money will be refunded. Email Naomi Miller if you have any queries.
