Cathedral World Cup Finalists

Bristol Cathedral has shocked the nation by narrowly beating St Paul's Cathedral to a place in the Cathedral World Cup final in a battle that went right down to the spire...

Over on Twitter, a fan of cathedrals started a Cathedral World Cup - pitting all 48 cathedrals of England against each other in a sports-style competition.

16 cathedrals made it through to the semi-finals, with a victor from each of the four semi-finals winning a place in the final, to take place on Friday 10 November.

Having made it through to the semi-finals as a strong runner-up, we were drawn against Chichester, Canterbury, and St Paul's in round one of the semis.

In a nailbiting finish that went to the last minute, we narrowly beat St Paul's by 1%!

With three rounds still to go, we're going to be up against some stiff competition. All the details of how to vote in the final will be on our Facebook and Twitter pages on Friday morning: we'll need your support to vote and spread the word to friends, family, acquaintances, colleagues, pets...everyone!
