Kenneth Wilson’s Musical Pilgrimage Arrives at Bristol Cathedral
This summer, Bristol Cathedral is honoured to be one of the 42 stops on Pilgrim Cello – an extraordinary journey combining poetry, music, and pilgrimage.
Author and cellist Kenneth Wilson is cycling to every Anglican cathedral in England, performing his Meditation on the Seven Last Words of Jesus. With his cello carried on the front of a specially adapted bike, Kenneth brings a powerful reflection to each sacred space through a sequence of meditative poems and the slow movements from J.S. Bach’s Suites for Solo Cello.
Each performance is accompanied by a set of seven evocative abstract paintings by artist Gillian Lever, created as part of an ongoing creative collaboration. These paintings, representing the Seven Last Words, travel with Kenneth in a purpose-built reliquary, forming an integral part of the experience.
