SUMMARY:The Music of James Bond
DESCRIPTION:The Great British Film Orchestra presents The Music of James Bond – performed in the stunning Bristol Cathedral \n  \nFrom the moment the first chord strikes\, audiences are transported into the mysterious and thrilling world of James Bond. This incredible Chamber Orchestra brings the legendary music of James Bond to life in a way that is bold\, elegant and utterly unforgettable. \nThis is more than a concert – it is an orchestral tribute to one of cinema’s most iconic legacies. Across six decades\, the music of Bond has been defined by extraordinary voices: Dame Shirley Bassey\, whose soaring performances of “Goldfinger”\, “Diamonds Are Forever” and “Moonraker” set the gold standard; Adele\, whose Oscar-winning “Skyfall” became an instant classic; Sam Smith’s haunting “Writing’s On the Wall”; and Billie Eilish’s powerful and poignant “No Time To Die”. These songs – and the artists behind them – have given Bond its unmistakable sound. \nPerformed by world-class musicians and vocalists\, every note echoes the sophistication of the James Bond universe. The sound of sweeping strings and bold brass stirs images of high-speed car chases\, exotic escapes and unforgettable encounters. The sultry tones of the singers evoke Bond’s timeless glamour. \nThis is a night where music and cinema intertwine\, where audiences don’t just listen to – they feel it\, they live it. \nThe Great British Film Orchestra is dedicated to celebrating the soundtracks that have defined the golden age of cinema and beyond. With each performance\, we honour the artistry of composers and storytellers who have given us moments that transcend the screen. \nSo\, don your finest attire\, raise a glass and prepare for an evening of breath-taking music and the unmistakable thrill of James Bond. \n  \nDisclaimer  \nPlease be advised that this orchestral performance will include the use of strobe lighting and Portman lighting effects. These may involve intense flashes\, rapid light changes\, and bright visual effects\, which may be synchronised with the music. \nIn addition\, there may be moments of heightened volume and dynamic contrast typical of a live orchestra. \nThese elements may not be suitable for individuals with photosensitive epilepsy\, sensory sensitivities\, or those sensitive to loud sound levels. Viewer discretion is advised. \nIf you have any concerns or require assistance\, please speak to a member of staff prior to the performance. Ear protection is recommended for those who may be sensitive to louder passages.

SUMMARY:Bristol Classical Players & Phoenix Choir: A Night at Sea
DESCRIPTION:Bristol Classical Players\nBristol Phoenix Choir & Guests \nSoprano: Chloé Underwood\nMezzo-Soprano: Rebecca Chellappah\nBaritone: Malachy Frame \nConductor: Tom Gauterin\nLeader: Anneka Sutcliffe \nVaughan Williams: A Sea Symphony\nElgar: Sea Pictures\nBright: The Lighthouse (World Premiere) \nVaughan Williams ‘A Sea Symphony’ was one of the first great compositions for full symphony orchestra\, choir and soloists: a full\, epic soundscape! He composed this masterpiece over 6 years up to 1909 and was inspired by the mysticism in the poems of Walt Whitman. Vaughan Williams was integral in establishing a strong British classical sound\, this being only shortly after great works like Holst Planets and Debussy’s La Mer were composed\, an era of expansive development of the Romantic era into the modern age. \nElgar’s Sea Pictures\, for mezzzo-soprano and orchestra\, are somewhat more delicate than his other works\, for which he has been described to be ‘a master of broad and vigorous colouring.’ They centre around a love poem written by his wife which she adapted to reference the sea. \nJacob Bright’s ‘The Lighthouse’ is inspired by the lighthouse being a beacon of hope and dry land amid the storms of the mighty ocean. Jacob is a British composer and record producer based in Somerset. He has composed and produced a plethora of high-quality music for record\, stage and screen and we are delighted that he has agreed to write a short piece within the sea theme for this concert. www.jacobbright.com ; \nBristol Classical Players is one of the South West’s leading independent orchestras\, presenting an exciting and varied repertoire that spans the great symphonic tradition alongside contemporary and newly commissioned works. They perform up to 10 concerts each year in Bristol and surrounds\, conducted by Tom Gauterin. www.bristolclassicalplayers.com \nBristol Phoenix Choir is a long-established (1963) group of local singers who focus on classical and contemporary classical work\, directed by Paul Walton. www.bristolphoenixchoir.org.uk ; \nWe are delighted to be working with excellent soloists: \nRebecca Chellappah\, mezzo-soprano\, is an active recitalist and soloist internationally. She performs regualrly with Bristol Opera and is a vocal coach specialising in singing technique. www.rebeccachellappah.com \nMalachy Frame\, baritone\, is an award-winning vocalist well known for his roles in opera\, debuting with English National Opera this year and at Wigmore Hall and as a concert soloist. www.malachyframe.com \nChloé Underwood\, soprano\, is currently a member of Swiss opera after recently graduating from Guildhall School of Music. www.chloeunderwood.co.uk \nDoors open at 7pm\nConcert begins at 7.30pm\nThere will be a short interval where refreshments will be available\nFinish c. 9.45pm
